Where Does Jet Blue From to From Boston

The Canadian border has been closed for well over a year to leisure travelers from the United States, but JetBlue is betting on a surge in travelers wanting to explore north of the border in the months to come. Beginning next summer, JetBlue plans to play nonstop service from Boston to Vancouver in British Columbia. The airline said the flights from Boston and New York's JFK Airport will be seasonal. "We're delighted that JetBlue has selected Vancouver as its first Canadian destination with service from YVR (Vancouver) to New York City and Boston," Tamara Vrooman, the president & CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority said in a news release. "As we move through the pandemic and prepare for a safe and healthy return to non-essential travel, this new service, scheduled for summer 2022, gives us all something to look forward to."Currently, it's unclear when the Canadian border will reopen for leisure travel from the United States and other countries. The service to Vancouver was among seven new destinations announced by JetBlue on Wednesday, with most of them receiving direct service from Boston's Logan International Airport. JetBlue also plans to launch nonstop service from Boston to San Antonio beginning in October, direct service from Boston to Kansas City and Milwaukee in the second quarter of 2022 and nonstop service to Asheville, North Carolina, in the summer of 2022. The airline also announced plans to fly nonstop from New York's JFK Airport to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and San Pedro Sula in Honduras. Both of those routes will launch in the winter. Seats will go on sale in the coming months, according to JetBlue. In making the announcement, JetBlue credited the ability to launch the new routes to its new Northeast Alliance with American Airlines. The collaboration between the two airlines was authorized by the U.S. Department of Transportation earlier this year but is facing pushback from some rival airlines. "By connecting with American's large customer base and international network, we can add new markets that we have been eying for many years," Scott Laurence, head of revenue and planning for JetBlue said. "The alliance quite literally gives us room to grow as we get greater access to airports that we've been locked out of for years."As part of that agreement, JetBlue says it will be expanding its codesharing agreement with American Airlines, allowing each airline to sell seats on the other's planes. JetBlue says beginning May 3, it will place its B6 code and American will place its AA code on more than 30 combined additional markets."The newest codeshare routes are made up of a variety of markets including short and medium haul flights linking major cities, transcon flying and routes serving unique leisure destinations," JetBlue said. They did not specify which routes would be available for codesharing. The airline says they'll expand the options in the months ahead and expand the ability to book connecting flights between the two carriers on one itinerary, which is not currently available to travelers.
